Na této stránce budeme rozvíjet prezentaci vzdáleně se týkající sémantiky – nauky o významu. Naším cílem ovšem není zevrubné teoretické studium, ale pouze průzkum některých praktických aspektů sémantiky v souvislosti s počítačovým zpracováním stále rostoucího objemu elektronických textů.

On this page, we will try to gradually develop a presentation lightly touching on semantics, a branch of linguistics concerned with meaning. However, our goal is not a thorough theoretical study but rather research of some practical aspects of semantics with relation to computerised processing of ever growing volume of electronic texts.

Ve vzdálenější budoucnosti doufáme, že na plodném pomezí teorie generativních slovníků, zobecněných ontologií, silných nástrojů pro zpracování textu (Perl), nových rozšíření XML a dalších odlehlejších inspiračních zdrojů (sociologické konstrukce reality, experimentální psychologie, neuronální nauky o mozku a teorie vědomí, genetiky, memetiky a evoluční teorie obecně) vznikne konečně něco opravdu zajímavého.

In a distant future we hope that on the fruitful borderline among generative lexicon theory, reusable ontologies, powerful tools for text processing (Perl), new extensions of XML, and other more remote sources of inspiration (sociological constructs of reality, experimental psychology, neuroscientific brain and mind theories, genetics, memetics and evolutionary theory in general) eventually something really interesting emerges.

V průběhu našich pokusných kroků se budeme snažit udržet dvojjazyčnou základnu (čeština – angličtina), neboť to dodá jakýmkoliv dosaženým výsledkům další podstatný rozměr.

During our experiments we will strive to keep a bilingual basis (Czech – English) since it adds another important dimension to whatever results are achieved. Just keep in mind that our mother tongue is Czech.
